Hey jammers, welcome to the first history and rarity examination on Animal Jam Spirit! I thought that this being the first post, we should examine the popular yellow item of old...
The Founder's Hat!
Check below the page break for more info on this fun head item – one that is older than many jammers realize...
The "beta ages" of Jamaa were a testing period for the game. Beta Animal Jam was fairly small, and advertised mainly to the National Geographic Kids audience (magazine and website). The beta testing took place in the summer of 2010, and lasted until September 9.
Items sold before September were deemed beta. So...
betas – items sold from July 2010 to early September 2010
rares – items not currently in stores/easily won in games
Hope that clears a few things up.
Now, contrary to popular belief, Founder's Hat's aren't actually beta! They were based on a similar item, the Top Hat, which was sold during the beta testing. Founder's were in fact sold soon after beta ended, during the next update on September 23, 2010.
As you may have noticed, the Founder's Hat is a member item, and always has been. Jammers who had played during beta, the "beta testers," were given one month of membership by AJHQ, as a thank-you for their help. This meant many beta testers purchased the new item, which disappeared from stores later that year.
Since it's an old item, it used to have a more flat icon, before AJHQ revamped a lot of the 3D visuals around Animal Jam. There has been hope (and fear) of AJHQ bringing back the Founder's Hat, especially during the Hatapalooza of January 2013.
Though the Top Hat's did return, the Founder's Hat sadly (or happily?) enough did not. Some speculate that it will never return, as it was sort of a gift to the jammers who helped test Jamaa, making it the game it is today. Tis why it's called a Founder's Hat, right? A shiny gold top hat for the founders of Animal Jam.
A reference to the Founder's Hat exists in Tunnel Town as the golden Founder Bunny, extra special and free for a limited time!
These were given only during the first week of Tunnel Town, and now can only be bred by breeding them with each other – very exclusive! So as of now, it appears these items, the Founder's Hat and the Founder Bunny, will remain out of stores, and sadly out of reach for many jammers (and towners?). But don't lose hope!
Founder's Hats are highly desired, but not especially rare. There are plenty of chances for you to trade for your own Founder's Hat. The trick is working with small rares and gradually getting bigger and bigger ones. Who knows, maybe you'll find someone who'd like to trade a Founder's Hat for the items you have. I really hope Founders don't come out.. I have one and it is one of my favorite items. I think it should remain a gift to beta testers!
I don't really mind what happens, as I don't have one and I don't care to have one... but I see your point. It wouldn't hold much of it's value and awesomeness if it came out again, as easy to obtain as a necklace. XD

When my den used to be unlocked, every person was like, ''WAT 4 BETA TV LOL,'' which is those flatcreens with SBI on the bottom. I kept telling them that they were not beta, because I was not a beta player and I bought that TV when I had membership, which was Late August of 2011. A lot of people think just because they aren't around, that they are betas.

Chapter 2
After Freedom's announcement, I continued chatting with my friends, but we somehow talked about that angry eagle. I really don't like him. I still feel bad for these poor animals. Freedom flew away and went to the Temple of Zios, but I'm pretty sure he's flying there to meet the Alphas at the camp. I curiously watched him out of sight. I went to the temple without my friends noticing. It didn't take long to see Freedom entering the camp. There he was, chatting with the other Alphas who weren't there to hear his announcement.
"Can't you see?" Freedom yelled. "Your land is breaking into pieces because of those mean Jammers!"
"They are nice when they help stop the Phantoms with us", Graham replied.
I looked around. There was only 5 of those Alphas. Oh wait, Greely isn't there. I remembered when I was there, in the volcano when he saved Jamaa, for now. But I hope he's still alive. He is a clever wolf after all.
"I'm sorry but we can't help an animal who's more tough than our dead friend", Liza said in a soft voice.
"Fine, but you WILL see the truth", Freedom said, squinting his eyes as to show he was angry.
He turned his head almost towards me but I looked away. I ran back to Jamaa Township but Freedom spotted me.
"What do you think you are doing?" asked Freedom.
I couldn't speak, I was full of terror that he will claw my face with his talons.
"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" he continued. "What were you doing?"
"Just looking, sir", I said.
"Do I look like a "sir" to you?"
"No, s- I mean Freedom."
Freedom nodded and was about to flap his feathers to leave.
"Wait!" I shouted.
"What could you possibly want from me?"
"I've seen those problems like you said. I'll help you give rights to those Jammers that can't stand up for themselves."
"No one was brave to talk to me on something that I believed in before."
Freedom made a little smile. I smiled back.

ReplyDeleteI always tell people that when they get hacked. "Start with small rares, like a fox hat, and build yourself up from there". I always use the trading tree method, almost like a family tree.

O just got a second t hat and my best buddy keeps comparing herself to me she has two fox hats and a worn and I some RIMs I tell her to keep trading and to work her way up to higher rarity..... (She still keeps talking to me about how rare I am I think she is trying to get me to give her one of my rares.....)

DeleteHmm...I was actually there during the early days of AJ. I think it was sometime after beta testing, late 2010 or early 2011. If I wasn't only in 2nd grade at the time, I would have more to show for it. Sadly, I came back around mid-2012, and by that time , everything had changed (so disappointing). I didn't realize it, but practically everything I had was rare. Eventually I lost it all. And I don't have fee OR limited chat either.

Ok, so a long time ago I decided to put my black top hat on trade in Jamaa Township. Some dude wanted to trade me his founder's hat for my black top hat. I had absolute no idea that they were very rare, and I declined. The next time I saw somebody begging someone else for their founder's, I regretted everything.. ;-;
