It's kinda like Fullmetal Alchemist in a way, Stan and Bill (who had a different name) were studying the secrets of Gravity Falls and they come across something. It could be like a spell to bring back their mother. They did the spell, making Bill cahotic and Stan grumpy. Cahotic and grumpy obviously are two different words with different meanings, and grumpy still means they care but not as much.

Sara is a part of the prophecy that states that a nomagic will protect the world, because the special creatures are actually creatures that protect children from the Nohearts but their magic is fading and the Nohearts are trying to stop the creatures from protecting the children. c:
