Hey jammers! Snowy here, back for another little post. First, I'm a tad confuzzeled on the way AJHQ is adding their new item as of late. The newest items appear to be additions to the sand theme den, but not in any particular order. One is likely from a different day...
But then which one was posted when?? I am bamboozeled. But in older news, I'm doing a Summer Spike Giveaway. See below to enter!
As you can hear in the video, I'm no longer doing entries to my video giveaways in the comments on YouTube! They are now moved to a Google form (where the only personal information you need to enter is your username on Animal Jam). This is largely in part because I want everyone, even those without a YouTube or Google+ account, to be able to enter. I'm going to be mean and give you the link to the video, where you can read the description and find the link to the form...

ReplyDeleteThe Sand Man instantly makes me think of Sandman, as in the Marvel supervillan. We need more Marvel in AJ, now that I think about it... The Armoire looks nice, but I think the sand items aren't my thing.

ReplyDeleteThis is a topic I haven't really looked at closely over the years, but I've recently decided is something worth at least a bit of judgement. The other day, I came upon Julian2's video about the most popular animals in AJ. In it, he records the amounts of animals in the Jamaa Township of each server, and puts into a circle graph to display. Unsurprisingly, arctic wolves came out first.
Afterwards, Julian goes on a rant about how Jammers aren't getting creative with their outfits anymore, and that looks are more focused around rares than anything. He also mentioned that there were no polar bears or hyenas he encountered in his experiment.
And my theory about why that is is because that real life ideals are bleeding into Animal Jam.
That's not a bad thing, it's GOOD that we're relating to real life and all, but in reality, the boundaries we place upon ourselves are too strict. We all desire the perfect body, and so our thoughts have come into the game too.
Let's face it: polar bears are fat. And that's why we don't like them. Right now, at this time, being obese is being shamed upon. That idea came into the game, and so we dislike polar bears for that reason.
Hyenas have a sort of hunched back. We don't like hunched back, slouching, unruly characters in real life. Therefore, we don't like hyenas.
The fact that we don't like being fat or short or ugly is because it's unhealthy, and the importance of our race is to LIVE, to SURVIVE. Animal Jam is a base for that. Arctic wolves are stylish and tall. We like them. Foxes are slim and sleek. We like them. But pandas, penguins and elephants are looked down upon. To have our race survive, we need to be able to find a mate. Without a mate, we would die, our genetics would be lost. We need to be pretty, handsome, to find a mate. Animal Jam is teaching us something here, and it's not on purpose, but it's also not that great either.
Conclusion? We, as a race, however selfish and mean as we may be, need to LIVE. Some people take it too far, look at the whole Tigerly incident, and that's unacceptable, but being obese can lead to all sorts of bad things, which may be why we don't like it. Not only that, but being overweight makes us look bad, and if we don't look good, we can't find a mate.
I'm sorry if this seems a bit mean and sudden, but it's the truth. I'm not forcing you to be like this or that, I'm just saying that there's a reason, however illogical it may be, to why we shame on people.

ReplyDeleteFinally Julian2 said something smart, haha... My favorite animals in animal jam are some of the most uncommon. Usually I am a snow leopard, giraffe, or hyena. I actually only use my Arctic Wolf on rare occasions. I seriously do not know why people must desire to be skinny and all. They do not realize that you must survive in the wild with whatever your wits give you, but in "civilization" they have it all. I look at the species as if I were of another, and it seems odd. Worse yet, it is leaking into a kids game of all things...

I don't agree with what you said. I love all those animals and had awesome looks with all of them before my membership expired. I think most people just don't like them because they are harder to dress! Not because we think they relate to heavy people and hunchbacks :)

ReplyDeleteWell, humans are meant to live, and sometimes, living is based on copying. Think of this: It's a freezing cold winter day. One person decides to put on a winter jacket, and becomes toasty warm and safe. Logically, I would follow their lead, and I think that sorta came into AJ.
