Spirit Artwork #26

Light filters slowly through the green-tinged glass of the domed roof and patterned door. The walls and floors are comprised of tiny bits of tile, forming an intricate mosaic. The atmosphere is leisurely and languid, and for some reason you can't shake the feeling that everything seems to be swimming in a thick fluid of some sort. A bright gleam catches your eye, snapping you out of your stupor. You approach the donation box in the Appondale Conservation Museum, looking mournfully through its plastic casing at the glittering, colorful gems within. It's useless. These few gems can do absolutely nothing to help an entire species. Like throwing coins into fountain, this is only wishful thinking. The scornful voice almost involuntarily echoes through your head. You give the box another doubtful look, but deposit a few gems anyway (as this little of a deficit could never put a considerable dent into your savings). After having leaned over the box, you notice a few mysterious pieces of paper tucked neatly behind it.

 

A few pieces of art sent in by Factory Dash, also known as MacaronParadise. The subject matter certainly is something very rare here on Spirit Art... humans! I'd say you handled them very well; it is obvious that you've had a lot of experience drawing them as well as their animal companions, in a variety of positions and angles. The shading seems a bit dark to me, which works in the case of the first piece, but I'm not sure this is such a reliable strategy in the last, where the background has much more light!

A couple of pieces sent in by Veges. Your fun, cartoony style is very interesting, especially the large muzzle and lanky features of your wolves. It very much reminds me of lupisvulpes' style!

Here we have a piece sent in by JammerblueAJ. The highly contrasting shadows imply a harsh light source, which makes the piece all the more intense, and brings focus to the character!

These pieces, sent in by Stormeh The Griffin, are absolutely stunning! Your linework is very neat and on-point, and I love how you've managed your little details, such as the fur, feathers and flower crown!

This very, very interesting piece has been sent by Rigby. I have to say, this is a style that I rarely see, and it really strikes a chord in me. Although the lines are a bit jumpy, you have a very, very strong grip on form. The expression on the first character is flawless, and the remote in its hand adds a touch of suspense; it makes wonder what is going on. I can't stop looking at this, omg.

Here we have a whimsical piece by AmberKirby! I love that the colors in the background match the character. The neck is a bit long, unless she's stretching it out to look at something, but otherwise your lines are very neat, and the light shading adds depth to the piece!

Here we have two stunning pieces by lucykate651! I love the relaxing air to the first one, and the adorable pose of the second! The motion lines of the wind add to the atmosphere of relief, the feeling taking a deep, relaxing breath. The paws of the cat are especially well-drawn - I love how you have one of them raised up as if in a friendly gesture.

Two cute pieces sent in by Doctor Whooves of the disqus comment section! I love the appealing shades of brown you've used (I can never get the right shade of brown for anything...). You've used a bright, yellowed hue for the dog, with its recognizable curly tail and longer muzzle, and a more diluted-red hue for the cat, which has its adorable white cheeks and tail tip. 

Here we have an impressive sketch sent in by the awesome LittleDiscordFan72! I like how you've used various shades to represent darker and lighter colors. Your use of space is also very striking - I like how the character encompasses all of the space of the photo.

Here we have three lovely pieces by Iluvyurbles! I enjoy the vibrant colors and bold contrast in all three of these pieces! You've also got an eye for detail, I see, by your inclusion of that little red spot on the lower part of the seagull's bill, and the accurate features of your Latias.

What a wonderful, vivid piece of artwork, sent in by none other than the lovely pastel of the disqus comment section! I adore your use of... pastelly... colors in all of your works, and this is no exception. The absence of darker colors always adds an atmosphere of lightheartedness to your pieces, and make them pleasant to view.

And now, a close up of Snowyclaw by the amazing Fuzzhead Derp Face :D! I love the cool-colored background you've used to contrast with Snowyclaw's more warmly-colored fur. I also enjoyed how the shatter-y effects used in the background itself, which fit very much with the theme of snowflakes.

Here we have a rose sent in by icyclaw6430! Though this is just a sketch, the shading on this thing is very impressive, and the petals feel like the just pop out towards you! Very well done!

Here are some lovely Animal Jam related artworks by Jordan of the disqus comment section! I especially love the lively colors of the first piece! The blues and greens contribute to that calm, naturey feel. And the second and third pieces are all very detailed!

To wrap this rather long post up, we have some impressive sketches by Pinkclaw24! I'm certain these took a fairly large amount of effort and redrawing, as I see many erasure marks. You're a very persistent, determined artist, only willing to submit nothing but your best!
