Spirit Artwork #25

You enter the bustling dinner party hesitantly. Some shady characters have been seen around Jamaa as of late, and being kidnapped by a phantom in disguise is the last thing you'd want to deal with at the moment. Taking a breath, you enter the crowded room, seating yourself at a lonely oak table, located farther away from the rest, upon which two empty teacups sit forlornly. You fiddle with the handle on one of them, and then take to examining the pattern on the floor. Why had you come here in the first place? you wonder. Oh, right... it was that mysterious invite you received a while ago. Perhaps it had been foolish to come; perhaps this was a trap. You remove the invitation from your inventory, turning the glossy cream paper over in your paws. As you tamper with the envelope, a bunch of other, smaller pieces of paper, seemingly slipped in unintentionally and forgotten, fall out of it, settling on the floor in messy pile.

First off, we have a lovely piece of artwork brought to us by Viridescent Future AJ. Done in the AJ art program in Coral Canyons, this couldn't have been an easy feat. I particularly like the teal background, which makes the light tan-and-grey character the first thing you look at.

A piece of art with a message, sent in by Kitkat8529. Interesting imitation of Animal Jam's style to convey a message about a problem that has plagued the site since the end of its beta period. The placement of the wolf in the center, with an innocently confused expression, surrounded by rares, amplifies the feeling of being trapped and lost.

Two  pieces created by cloudclaws. The sun's rays and the grass peeping through the melting snow in the first piece contribute to the calm, hopeful atmosphere. Not to mention that I like to see something in the foreground now and again, and that bush, dotted with red berries, does the job. The second piece also has an interesting background, getting darker as it nears the character. The character's expression and soft blue glow bring to mind a feeling of despair.

A flowery piece sent in by Summerflair. The light, pastelly, easteregg-esque colors are the prominent feature of this painting. The white, pink, blue, and green really give a sense of springtime, giving the piece an airy, almost delicate feel.

Quite the dynamic piece, sent in by Pawlemagne. This depiction of an Animal Jam wolf plunging into darkness, yet with a calm and content expression, is quite impressive. Its paws, scarf and tail, flung back with the force of the fall, contribute to the dynamic pose.

Two pieces brought in by AttackOnWholock. I'd have to say the most recognizable aspect of your style is the long, deerlike legs. Your style leans towards the build of more agile and thin creatures. Interesting, how you included a little clip on the spiked collars, clearly diverting from the Animal Jam style of items.

And here we have a traditional piece by HungerTheHetalian. I hope you don't mind that I borrowed this piece from the comments, but, as you all can now post pictures, I decided I'll be taking submissions in both email and comment form! Anyway, this piece is impressive in that it imitates the style of anime quite well, and you seem to have managed the proportions of the anime-styled human face quite well.

An interesting piece sent in by Blingbling Jamaa. Interesting composition, with the character peeping out of the side of the page. Exaggerated features, such as a wide, comical grin, and large chin, make this piece memorable.

Yet another traditional piece, this one sent in by Amhdolphin. I like your inclusion of a background; it's like you've provided a habitat for the central character: the fox. I also like how the shadows of the fox and of the tree fall opposite to the light source.

Last but not least, we have a piece from last week's comments, by PinkiePromise10. What stands out to me is how the dragon's back is turned, making for a more difficult angle. The green and purple coloration is fun and lively!

Some more notes: There were a LOT of pieces sent in this time around, so I may not have gotten to posting yours this time. Look for it in next week's post. Also, I'll probably be hosting the art contest in the summer, if any of you are wondering about that.

I LOVE SPIRIT ARTWORK, SO MUCH OF IT....

I am amazed that 1 moment they have a post at 9pm, the next moment, 9AM!!!!

Alright so: here is my usual verdict -

Viridescent Future AJ, I like the complex style of your drawing, with much attention on the details such as pattern. I expect you could draw Spikes or Elf Tail Armour very well with all your patience! I also like the background choice, which is pretty but plain and simple, so the bright and fiddly-looking character is the first thing you see, with all the wonderful little additions. Congrats!

I HAVE SEEN THIS "RARITY HURTS" PICTURE BEFORE! I like the lost expression, as if you are trapped inbetween a whole load of rare trading and gifting, and you cannot get out of this madness. Jamaa and AJ are more than that, folks! This is spoken from the rarest Jammer among you! I still agree. And it conveys a brilliant purposeful message, well done, Kitkat8529.

Cloudclaws - The first one is my cup of tea - a curious glorious fox, stepping outside into the first golden rays of Spring. Always appreciated, even in Summer almost! xx And the last one - I love the leafy texture, focused on one part! You have great talent and I would like to see more from you!

Summerflair, this picture is bright and bouncy and beautiful just like YOU! The textures are simple, as if a child's innocence to the world is all that matters, and the background is just bright and sparkly, the wolf so absorbed in playing that he barely notices, but it contrasts so gorgeously. It's got such vibrant, powerful feeling! Congrats!

WHAT. OH. MY. GOD. Pawlemagne, this is astounding. I think I'mma go lie down now....... SHEESH BOI. Alright so, it's so REAL STRONG DYNAMIC POWERFUL...... I wanna see this on the cover of a movie! Such mission-style purpose! Such a handsome pose!

AttackOnWholock, I love your style. You can tell it's your piece because the animals have long lanky legs, and lean bodies high up, with those sweet ears! And your unique way of drawing Spikes is awesome.... I think you are so passionate, you see the animals outside of AJ and everywhere you go.

Haha, HungerTheHetalian, well done! It's a gorgeous, cute yet ruggedly handsome, anime style. The pencil and its rough texture, for me, well that emphasises on the way the boy is tall now, but not grown up, still cute and chubby <3 It's like a faint shadow.... the boy he used to be? I can see that.

Blingbling Jamaa, I have seen this one before too! It's a nice colourful piece with memorable colouring used, such as repeated purple and magenta, and a cheeky grin. I also like the dull background which is actually interesting if you look closer. Congrats!

Amhdolphin, I agree totally with ShadowCharizard - your shadows are in great perspective and it's a very original design! Well done!

MY GOSH, PINKIEPROMISE10! The design and posture is amazing, as there are no fidgety bits, they all follow on perfectly, and the purple and green is very neon, colourful and vibrant, like the dragon is young! Wonderful: and I love all the little details!

If you want any items, under 5,000 gems, give me your username, whether you're member or non-member, and then be on AJ and if you're member I will send, otherwise put unwanted on trade. Also tell me what shop it comes from and the price! Thanks!

I LOVE the "Rarity Hurts" one. Jamaa is about having FUN when you trade, not getting rare items..

Even though, don't judge me for this, I like rares. I think most rares look nice. Like why did they have to make rare spikes look so friggin' cool?! XD But people shouldn't get all scammy and only care about rares. Scammers need to stop..
