Spirit Snaps #2
Mountains, Snow and Ice!

Hey there jammers! Popsicle again with this week's Spirit Snaps!

The theme for this week is Mountains, Snow and Ice.

Mountains are massive sections of land which rise up from the area around them making them prominent. Usually, mountains are formed when two of the earth's crust plates collide and force upwards, a bit like when you push your fingertips together and they are pushed up! The highest ever discovered mountain is Olympus Mons (Latin for Mount Olympus), which is found on Mars. It's 16 miles high, about 3 times the height of earth's Mount Everest! The highest unclimbed mountain on earth is Gangkhar Puensum, which is the 40th highest mountain. It hasn't been climbed because of rules against mountaineering in the area.

Ice is the result of water which has been chilled below it's freezing point, whereas snow is made up of smol small ice particles which have formed in clouds. Snow falls anywhere where it's cold enough, and usually dusts mountains, roads, even can even cover your pet cat if it stays outside in a snowfall long enough! Ice is found almost everywhere in our Solar System, from the planet Mercury to the far outer space Oort Cloud. On earth, it can be found in freezers, lakes, and mountains; basically anywhere cold! When you freeze water in your freezer, a small cloud of air is trapped inside the ice, making a white core inside the ice.

Alright, enough babbling. Onto the snaps!
